Quaternary ammonium compounds have higher efficacy in alkaline environments and warm temperatures as disinfectants.

Disinfection chemicals and technology form an integral part of the fish & seafood processing industries as these products are susceptible to bacterial contamination, high perishability, and decomposition and require care during processing.
